TAB: A Journal of Poetry & Poetics is a national and international journal of creative and critical writing. The mission is to discover, support, and publish poems and other writing and art about poetry; to provide a forum in which the poetic tradition is practiced, extended, challenged, and discussed by emerging and established voices; and to encourage wide appreciation of poetry.
If you'd like to submit, see our Author Guidelines.
Print issues appear annually in January; electronic issues are published during the rest of the year. The two formats allow us to experiment with design and materiality in this age in which print and electronic dissemination coexist. The Design Statement in the Front Matter of electronic issues defines our approach.
TAB News & Plans!
TAB is making some changes. We've been up and running for two years, each year we rethink the design, and we continue to tinker with the possibilities of our print and electronic formats.
The 2015 print issue will be published in January and has a very different look than last year's print issue, which had a very different look than the previous year's print issue. This time, think poetry map!
In 2015, the electronic issues will be somewhat larger and will appear on the second Wednesday every other month: March, May, July, September, November. We'll include each contributor's hometown (think poetry map), and we'll include audio for at least one poem by each poetry contributor so that we consistently take advantage of the possibilities of the electronic format and offer something readers can't get in print journals.
We are already reading submissions for 2015. Because of our design focus, we're especially interested in work that has to do with place.
TAB now has a terrific small staff of MFA students who read submissions and write book reviews. This staff helps ensure that all submissions continue to receive at least two readings. While we can't review every book we receive, publishers are welcome to send books for review to TAB, Dept. of English, Chapman University, One University Drive, Orange, CA 92866.
Finally, if you live in Southern California, be aware that TAB is part of Tabula Poetica: The Center for Poetry at Chapman University. Tabula Poetica hosts a reading series every fall, and we'd be happy to see our submitters and contributors in the audience. No matter where you live, you can watch the Poetry Talks and Poetry Readings on our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TabulaPoetica.
TAB adds MFA Students to Staff!
|Last fall, the Editor trained three MFA students to become staff members for 2014. We welcome Alexis Gobel, David Krausman, and Breanna Henry on board TAB. We hope to add one or two additional positions soon. These new staff members are doing a great job reading submissions, writing book reviews, and handling some public relations. MFA student Michael Tesauro continues his lead position as well, with additional work on our website and new YouTube Channel.|
